Hi, my name is Rebecca McMullen. A few years ago I was told that my son, Lachlan, had ADHD.
I remember being asked “How do you feel about medication?”
I was shocked! Surely there was something I could try first?
My husband and I did not want our son to be on ADHD meds so I decided to do some research.
I implemented dietary changes almost immediately.
Our journey took about three years and was somewhat of a bumpy road. However, I am so glad that I persevered.
Lachlan’s symptoms are now managed without the need for medications. He truly is a different kid (but yet even quirkier; more personality you might say).
I felt so passionate about finding a natural way and I’m sure I’m not the only one. So, I choose to share our journey with others who may only be just putting their boots on to start their trek to arresting ADHD.
Enrolling to become a Nutritionist
Throughout our journey with Lachlan, I developed a thirst for knowing how the body works.
I wanted to understand why a particular dietary approach didn’t work for Lachlan, yet so many others reported success.
At the time, I was constantly torn between wondering if his ‘symptoms’ were all in my head and moments where I was absolutely certain that ‘something’ was influencing his behaviour.
I believed that the only way I could truly understand it all was to ‘go back to school’.
So, I enrolled in a Bachelor in Medical Science (Nutrition). I expect to graduate in 2018.
I believe that all disease begins in the gut. I believe that food is medicine. I believe that a nourishing diet is an effective tool in managing ADHD. Most importantly, I believe I should share it with the world!
Everyone should have the opportunity to Arrest ADHD and Manage without Meds.
